Call for Abstracts
Participants interested in presenting data should submit abstracts to www.advancesinibd.com by September 3, 2009. Abstracts are subject to acceptance by the Scientific Committee. Once accepted, abstracts will be published in the journal Inflammatory Bowel Diseases® and scheduled for oral or poster presentation.
Acceptance notifications and guidelines for poster presentation will be sent on October 15, 2009. Authors of Accepted Abstracts and Award Winners who have not registered will have until November 19, 2009 to do so at the rate of $250. After this date, abstracts without registered presenters will be disregarded.
Abstracts will be accepted from the listed categories and authors should indicate abstracts as either Basic or Clinical by checking the appropriate selection online at www.advancesinibd.com.
Late Breaking Abstracts: Late-breaking information may be submitted until November 2, 2009. Please note that late-breaking abstract submissions will be included in the conference materials, but will not be published in the journal supplement.
Note: While abstract submissions are encouraged to advance knowledge on the state of the science, abstracts submitted by pharmaceutical companies may not be orally presented by a pharmaceutical employee should the abstract be selected for oral presentation during the meeting.

Abstract Guidelines
- Abstracts must be written in English
- Accepted format: Word document format, 9 point Arial font, 500 word count limit
- Use a concise title
- List affiliations of author(s) as briefly as possible, with city, state and country
- Place an asterisk (*) before the name of the presenting author
- Use standard and well-accepted abbreviations
- When using references, use standard and well-accepted formats
- Abstract content should be single-spaced, typed in lower case and contain:
- Purpose of the study
- Summarized description of the project
- Results and conclusions
Young Investigator Award
Young Investigator Award

This award is available to assist with conference-related travel expenses for fellows in training. The first author must meet the following requirements:
- The candidate for the award must be in training in a recognized GI training program
- Candidate must show original research of major importance in the field of medical/clinical Inflammatory Bowel Diseases conducted by themselves and co-investigators (if any)
- Candidate must show relevance of the work to a current problem in patients involving Inflammatory Bowel Diseases
- Candidate must submit a well-written,concise and accurate abstract
- Candidate must register for the conference and agree to be present during the scheduled poster presentation times
- Candidate must provide a letter of support from his/her Program Director indicating their eligibility for the award
- Check Merit Award box on official abstract form
Abstracts of Excellence Award
Abstracts of Excellence Award
(supported by Procter & Gamble Pharmaceuticals, Inc)
This award has been established to encourage and recognize scientific research excellence. The award will be presented to the three (3) best overall abstracts presented at the 2009 Advances in Inflammatory Bowel Diseases Crohn's & Colitis Foundation’s National Clinical and Research Conference. The first author must meet the following requirements:
- Candidate must show original research of major importance in the field of medical/clinical Inflammatory Bowel Diseases conducted by themselves and co-investigators (if any)
- The selected abstract should not have been presented previous to the 2009 Advances in Inflammatory Bowel Diseases Crohn's & Colitis Foundation’s National Clinical and Research Conference
- Candidate must show relevance of the work to a current problem in patients involving Inflammatory Bowel Diseases
- Candidate must submit a well-written, concise and accurate abstract
- Candidate must be registered for the meeting and agree to be present during the scheduled presentation times
