ABOUT ADVANCES IN IBD

Dedicated to the interests of the entire community of IBD patients, and designed to meet the educational needs of all healthcare professionals who treat and manage patients with inflammatory bowel diseases, with highly focused information shared among clinicians and researchers.

History

First held in 2002 in New York, Advances in Inflammatory Bowel Diseases was developed to update gastroenterologists, internists and other health care professionals in active clinical practice on the state of the art in the management of patients with IBD, including Crohn’s Disease and ulcerative colitis. Dr. Richard MacDermott was the chair for this first meeting, and has remained chair each year, welcoming Dr. Stephen Hanauer in 2004 as co-chair. 24 faculty experts participated in the scientific program, and nearly 300 people attended.

Fast forward to 2012, where more than 1,900 gastroenterologists, pediatric specialists, clinical researchers, nurses, and other healthcare professionals with an interest in the treatment of patients with IBD attended the most recent Advances in IBD. 60+ international expert specialists offered more than 100 educational presentations, and 296 abstracts were accepted for oral or poster presentation.

We believe the growth and success of Advances in IBD comes from our dedication to offering a comprehensive scientific agenda that is clinically relevant, scientifically state of the art, and the most effective in addressing the educational needs of attendees, while always remaining focused on the goal of enhancing the lives of patients with inflammatory bowel diseases.
