- Review significant advances in therapeutic options for the treatment of IBD, particularly biologics and immunomodulators
- Recall advantages and disadvantages of current pharmacological therapies for IBD
- Discuss emerging basic science research related to IBD, especially in the fields of genetics, immunology, microbiology, and oncology
- Describe evolving patient management and treatment strategies for intestinal and extraintestinal complications in IBD
- Analyze a variety of diagnostic images obtained by modern endoscopic techniques
- Distinguish between strategy options for treating children and adolescents with IBD
- Recommend disease management options based on case presentations from national IBD thought leaders
- Identify the most appropriate surgical techniques in the treatment of IBD
After attending this conference, nurses should be able to:
- Discuss wound and ostomy management strategies for patients with IBD.
- Describe the management of IBD patients with fecal incontinence and perineal dermatitis
After attending this conference, basic scientists and researchers should be able to:
- Review significant advances in therapeutic options for the treatment of IBD, particularly biologics and immunomodulators
- Discuss emerging basic science research in fields outside their own, especially genetics, immunology, microbiology, and cell biology
- Identify and explain at least 2 unanswered research questions related to IBD from the fields of microbiology, genetics, and immunology
- Summarize the genetic underpinnings of inflammatory disorders like IBD
- Restate recent advances in understanding epithelial cellbacterial interactions in IBD
- Outline current knowledge of immune system regulation in IBD, especially the action of cytokines including IL-13 and IL-23
